Our Vision:

Every child in Washtenaw County enters school ready to succeed.

Parenting Support

Support for your parenting comes in many different ways, and you should choose the form that most fits your needs. Some programs have no charge, others have a sliding fee, while others have a set cost. Some programs are focused around adult education, while others include your children in the activities (usually known as play groups). Support is available from pregnancy through when you child enters school. We encourage you to explore the different organizations.

First Steps Washtenaw

First Steps Washtenaw is available in each of the ten school districts in the county.  First Steps offers playgroups, home visits, developmental assessments, adult education opportunities and a variety of special programs depending on the school district.  Each program is accessible to everyone with either no fee or a sliding scale fee. Contact your local First Steps Program for more information and to explore their offerings.
